Vivout

Vivout is a social app for iPhone and iPad that treats meeting new people as part of getting to know yourself. Rather than a swipe-match-chat loop, it leans on introductions, meetups, and small networks so a match has somewhere real to go, built for people who want to make acquaintances, get out, and grow a little in the process instead of collecting matches that never lead anywhere.

The story

From brief to launch

Three chapters that shaped how this project came together.

01
Brief

Project Idea

The brief started with a frustration most people recognise big dating apps optimise for swiping, not for meeting, and it eventually feels like a numbers game that goes nowhere. Vivout wanted to flip that, pitching a social app where meeting people ties into personal development, so signing up is about putting yourself out there and growing a little, not only finding a date. That ruled out cloning the usual swipe screen, the product needed to hold introductions, social meetups, networks, and one-to-one connection in one place while still feeling light and welcoming on first open. Meir Rotenberg brought the idea and the brand out of Israel and asked for the whole thing built for iPhone and iPad.

02
Build

Development

People set up a profile around who they'd like to meet and what they're into, and the app surfaces others nearby open to the same. Instead of an endless card stack, it leans on real social settings introductions, small meetups, and networks people can join, so a match has somewhere to go. A self-development thread runs through all of it, nudging people to try new things, meet outside their usual circle, and treat each connection as a chance to learn something. Onboarding was kept short and the interface friendly so a first-time user feels comfortable within the first minute. The 1.2 release was a full redesign that tightened the look and flow based on how people actually used the app.

03
Outcome

The Solution

Vivout runs as a Flutter app across iPhone and iPad, so one codebase covers both and the experience stays consistent. A Node.js backend handles profiles, the matching and introductions logic, and the social features, with Firebase underneath for sign-in, realtime data, and push notifications, the right call for a social product, since accounts, live updates, and notifications come together quickly and scale without a heavy ops burden. That left more time for the parts that make Vivout feel different. The app collects no user data of its own, which suits a product that asks people to be open and put themselves forward. What shipped is a social app that points people towards meeting, and towards a bit of self-growth along the way, instead of just another feed to scroll.
