Someone to sit through a medical appointment with you, or stand beside you at a work function full of strangers. The options for finding that person have always been bad. Gig apps only cover rides and deliveries. Staffing agencies will not touch a four-hour booking. So people end up asking favours they cannot return, or picking strangers off classifieds with no verification, no payment protection, and no plan if something goes wrong. Suitor came to us with a clear answer. Build one marketplace with two roles. Suitors post what they need, a date, a time, a place, and a purpose. Soughts offer their time at an hourly rate they set themselves. The client was equally clear about what the product is not. Not a dating app, not an escort service, not an employer or staffing agency. Every booking is a voluntary agreement between two verified, independent adults, and the platform's job is to make that agreement safe, fairly priced, and paid on time. That framing shaped every decision that followed.

We designed the app so both roles live in one place. A Sought builds a profile, passes identity verification, and sets an hourly rate. A Suitor sends a booking request that already carries the date, time, location, and purpose, so nobody wastes a conversation finding out the basics. The Sought accepts or declines with one tap, and nothing is confirmed until both sides agree. From there the two coordinate over in-app chat, with optional video messages for when a face and a voice make the plan clearer. Safety is not a settings page buried three menus deep. Every active booking carries an SOS button that places a 911 call the moment it is pressed, and verification badges sit on every profile. Because trust also means money, billing is tied to the clock. The Sought clocks in when the event starts and clocks out when it ends, so the Suitor pays for the hours that actually happened, not an estimate. When the booking wraps, the payout is released and the Sought sees the money within 24 hours. The platform keeps a flat 10% and nothing else, no subscriptions, no listing fees, no surprises. What shipped feels less like a gig app and more like a simple promise. Post what you need, agree on a rate, meet safely, get paid fast.

Suitor ships as a single Flutter codebase running natively on iOS and Android, with both roles inside one app so moving between hiring and earning never means a second download. Behind it sits a Go backend that handles the parts a marketplace lives or dies on, profiles and verification, booking requests and acceptance, real-time messaging, and the clock-in and clock-out events that turn hours into accurate bills. Go keeps response times low even when bookings, chat, and location lookups all fire at once. Payments run on Stripe end to end. The Suitor's card is charged securely when the booking is confirmed, the funds are held while the event happens, and Stripe Connect splits the payout so the Sought receives their 90% within 24 hours of clocking out while the platform fee settles automatically. No invoices, no chasing. Google APIs power the location layer, with address search and autocomplete when a Suitor sets the meeting point, maps inside every booking so both sides know exactly where to be, and location context around clock-in so billed time matches time on site. The SOS button bypasses all of it and dials 911 directly through the device. The result is a marketplace where the safety rails and the payment rails are the same rails, built in from day one rather than bolted on.
